Now I want to dance for you.
I’m going to ask for a little patience. I’m going to get ready.

Close your eyes, please, close your eyes, close them… Do you see?

A dialogue between Anatomía Inventada by Natalia Fernandes and Cine Ciego by Marta Azparren, about the construction of the imaginal body of a possible non-dancer (the one who occupies the negative space of the dancer), the collective creation of her anatomy—both precise and impossible—and the generation of awareness about the audience’s gaze and its political stance toward the discourses imprinted on the body in motion.

“The session proposes the creation of the impossible body of the non-dancer through a collective mental image. A non-visual image record of a body-in-process. An anatomical drawing in layers: word-bones, image-muscle, movement-skin. The body before and after the discourse that shapes it, before and after the gaze that identifies it. There is no body without discourse, no movement without imitation. We are going to look at the body of a possible dancer with a drawing gaze.”

It has been presented and received support from El Graner (Barcelona) and its Diving program.

Marta Azparren’s text is published in the Diving repository of El Graner.
