noli me (con)tangere

The Noli me (con)tangere project was conceived during the State of Alarm declared in Spain in the spring of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

They begin by discussing touch and contact because these are what are missing, and therefore the sense, action, and effect that become evident and valuable in the daily lives of bodies affected by the State of Alarm.

The observation and analysis of tactics to maintain contact lead to a theoretical and practical investigation, in which the participating bodies are both subjects and objects of the study. Using the iconography of Noli me tangere (to address the desire for a post-body without flesh) and the Incredulity of Saint Thomas (to explore body-to-body as a form of knowledge) as a pretext, questions arise about the ethical and political status of corporeal life. The investigation impacts the experience of desiring bodies that, despite everything, continue to produce language in their attempt to reach what is distant.
